   382 - Puka Bowl       383 - Kikshaw Bowl

 Seven of Fire & Light's nine colors contain over 91% recycled glass. We decided to take our recycling to the next level. We spent  a whole day in our local salvage yard climbing around piles of old discarded equipment and scrap metal. By the end of the day we had gathered an assortment of items with interesting shapes and textures. We took those back to the glass studio and made several new pieces, including the Kikshaw Bowl and Puka Bowl. We created all of these pieces pouring, shaping and molding molten glass with the items we found in the salvage yard. Look carefully at the shapes and imprints on the glass. You will see old value handles, motor coils and even the pattern from a 1930 sewing machine foot pedal in the Puka Bowl. It was pretty cool for us to imagine how all these items were used over so many years as we hand crafted each piece into a new Fire & Light original.
